Sidebar form

The hierarchy of a tall side panel, the kind that edits a node. A reference for how primary and secondary forms divide the work — not a page the form law governs.

Primary and secondary forms

How a section straight on the panel (primary) relates to a sub-form nested inside it (secondary).

The variant tabs switch the response; the chips add and remove questions, which are the secondary forms.

Primary formPrimary form
  • A top-level region straight on the panel: title, response, questions…
  • Sections separated by a full-width rule
  • Heading and controls placed directly on the panel face
  • One section, one editing topic — and their order is the run order
Secondary formSecondary form
  • A sub-form nested in a section, such as one question
  • Wrapped in a pale inset card: border, ground, radius, inner padding
  • A smaller, paler sublabel drops it one level
  • Added and removed as an array — Add another question, or a type chip

Turn on Structure annotation at the top right and the primary and secondary extents appear as dashed outlines with tags.
